Activity

As a glocal educational institution and a business school that demonstrates diversity, Shizenkan provides various opportunities beyond the classroom for students to learn from the local community and develop a global perspective.

Local Nihonbashi Cummunity Events

As a member of the Nihonbashi community, Shizenkan has students participate in local festival events. In Nihonbashi, the Kanda Festival in May, the Nihonbashi Bridge Washing in July, and the Mochitsuki Festival in January (all of which have been canceled since 2020 due to the Covid19) provide students with a real experience of the historic Nihonbashi culture in a traditional atmosphere.

Tedx Tokyo

Tedx Tokyo is organized by Patrick Newell, co-founder of TEDxTokyo and professor at Shizenkan. A variety of guests are invited each time to share cutting-edge ideas and discuss solutions with like-minded people from around the world.

India virtual trek

Shizenkan and the School of Inspired Leadership (SOIL), our partner institution in India, recently collaborated for the field study course, “India Trek”.
Normally, students would actually travel to India and conduct field activities there with SOIL escorts, but this year, just like last year, in light of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the course was held as an online extracurricular activity titled “Virtual India/Tokyo Trip”.
SOIL students introduced the diverse culture, economy, and society of India to the Shizenkan students, and Shizenkan students introduced Japanese culture to the SOIL students, as well as the issues and challenges facing Japanese society.
This was a valuable opportunity for cross-cultural exchange where the students could directly feel the dynamism of an emerging country and also learn about themselves.

Culture Day

Students who have roots in various countries and regions of the world hold culture days to introduce their cultures and promote mutual understanding. Bonding within the class is fostered by understanding the backgrounds of classmates that cannot be learned through class discussions alone.
